microSHIFT

We do not want to mention any names here, but when it comes to groupsets, the same two brands always come up. This could change in the near future, because Microshift has given up its existence as an "original equipment manufacturer" and now sells its affordable bike components directly to end users - for example, to you here on BMO!

Things to know about Microshift

Until now, Microshift has kept a rather low profile. The Taiwanese manufacturer has been building bicycle components since 1999, but for many years they have been sold primarily to bicycle manufacturers and not to customers. It is therefore possible that you already have parts made by Microshift on your bike without knowing it. Since the shifters for road bikes and mountain bikes are designed by experienced engineers in Taiwan and China, and thus right in the stronghold of bicycle production, and in addition to good quality also bring excellent value for money, it is quite possible that the two well-established bike-parts heavyweights will have face some tough competition from Microshift's cassettes, shifters, front derailleurs and rear derailleurs.

Quality, durability and a top price

Especially the customer-friendly pricing policy of the manufacturer makes the components increasingly popular. Microshift always wants to deliver the best possible quality without charging an arm and a leg for it. The components may not be the lightest and they are not made of the poshest materials, but they are robust, functional and, above all, cheap.

When it comes to materials, quality and durability are the most important goal. As already said, Microshift is not after producing noble carbon pieces that only a few can afford. They prefer to impress with a solid construction and innovative technologies.

The top groups XCD (for mountain bikes) and Centos (for road bikes) prove that inexpensive components can nevertheless be cutting-edge! They are significantly cheaper than other top groups, but still convince bikers out there on the trail or on the road with their intuitive operability and their function. With other groups such as XLE, Marvo and Mezzo (mountain bike) or R10, R9 and R8 (road bike) Microshift also covers a lower price segment.

Acolyte - the Microshift groupset for children's and youth bikes

Small bike - huge group; MicroSHIFT tackles this problem with its Acolyte group. The Groupset was designed specifically for the young bikers, it is particularly robust and remains absolutely affordable, so it is perfect for children's bikes or MTBs for teenagers. The absolutely MTB-adequate sprocket range in combination with an intuitive operation of the easy-to-use shift levers (thumb shifts to a lower gear, index finger shifts up) works perfect on all kinds of terrains, while a reliable chain guide makes the 1x8 shifting (12-46T) the perfect training material for future trail riders.

Microshift builds compatible components

While other manufacturers like to make it difficult if you want to combine parts from different groups or different manufacturers, Microshift builds according to the mix-and-match principle. Many parts are compatible with the systems of Shimano or SRAM, they can be mounted as spare parts.

All things considered, Microshift scores not only as a manufacturer of its own group sets, but also as a producer for the aftermarket and through the distribution of spare parts. You will find a large selection of bike parts here in the BMO online store, mainly for road bikes and mountain bikes. Price-conscious cyclists will certainly get their money's worth here!
